舒伯特的两套钢琴即兴曲是其晚期作品中的明珠。作品90第一首《c小调即兴曲》以一个强奏的持续音开场。强奏自有其重，但舒伯特的音乐从来不会止于重。他会在触底之后反弹，将音乐朝反重力的方向拉起，以同等的力道发出向上的气息。这样的拉扯，在他的晚期作品中并不罕见。
